Welcome!

Welcome to the Buxom Bee. I am excited to see what develops in this blog and if I end up being the only one to read it, so be it. Not for nothin', but I find myself pretty darn entertaining most days. Here's hoping you do as well.
Allow myself to introduce...myself. My name is Jen. What better way to give you some insight into what you might be committing yourself to than by a good old fashioned survey? Let's get to it, shall we?

1. Most comforting place, smell, sound and memory?
The most comforting place for me is in the mountains/foothills. It reminds me of camping when I was a kid and I loved camping.
The most comforting smell is fresh laundry out of the dryer and also the smell of the fresh cut grass on a summer morning.
The most comforting sound is the sound of my mom, laughing. Like my brother and I she laughs out loud at everything that is funny. No stifled giggles for this lady. It makes me smile everytime.
My most comforting memory is seeing my entire family in the second row on opening night in a community theater production I was in when I was 19. I could see them from the stage, it was great.

2. Your ambitions as a child and your ambitions now
I wanted to be a school teacher when I was a child and then I was convinced I was going to be a Hollywood movie star, clutching my Oscar by the time I was 21. My ambitions are different now and are more focused on what will bring me happiness long term...although I have no clue what that might be so I am trying out a bit of everything.

3. Biggest fear
Not becoming a mother.

4. Qualities you would like in a partner
The biggest is the desire to make ME laugh. I don't need to be with the funniest guy in the room, I want someone that works hard to bring a smile to my face. Kindness, intelligence, health and stability are important as well.

5. Traits you couldn’t put up with in a partner
Lack of communication, lack of trust, jealousy and addiction.

6. What is the worst thing you have done to another person?
In as past relationship, I didn't let him be the strong one. I believe he wanted to and was lost at what to do when I was too independent. I know that sounds silly but I took him for granted and realized it when it was too late to repair.

7. What is the best thing you have done to another person?
I have loved someone with my whole heart. I think that is the best thing that I can give and would be the best thing to receive from someone.

8. What are your best traits and features?
I have fantastic hair! I didn't when I was an awkward teenager mind you, that is why I can say it with such confidence now.

9. What are your worst traits and features?
I can be selfish and stubborn. I don't take compliments easily and I don't take unexpected criticism easy either. I have this irrational believe that I am undeserving and it has been my biggest hurdle in my life.

10. The biggest mistake you’ve made.
I have ignored warning signs in bad jobs and bad relationships.

11. Are you rational or more emotional?
The older I get, the more rational I become.

12. Do you think you’re very conscious of the feelings of others or more self oriented?
I am both.

13. Greatest achievement personally.
To have survived the last year and a half and to still continue to be optimistic.

14. If you struggle to sleep at night, what do you do to try and soothe yourself to sleep?
This is embarrassing but when I was younger I would play the 'coma game'. I would lie very still in bed and imagine who would come to visit me in the hospital and what they would say if I was in a coma. Most of the time, I fell asleep before I was able to act out the imaginary dialogue.

15. What irritates you most about society?
I am bothered when someone will not accept personal responsibility. I get frustrated by people that blame everything and everyone for their problems and insist that it is not their fault.

16. When you compliment someone, what do you tend to focus on? (Looks, intelligence, personality…)
Looks because this is where people typically hold their insecurities.

17. Think of your oldest friend. If you met them now do you think you would still become friends?
I would, but because he lives so far away and has a lifestyle so different than mine I doubt we would ever meet.

18. Something you love to do, but feel guilty about after/during?
Sleep in.

19. Would you like children in the future. If so why?
Yes I would. While I enjoy being very selfish (if I could wait another 10 years or so for kids I would in a heartbeat) I can't imagine what my life would be without becoming a parent someday.

20.  How would you explain your idea of ‘true love’?
True love takes work. You have to have two people that are committed to each other and that are committed to put in the work to build each other up. You have to want to be each other's biggest cheerleader.
